Clive Staples Lewis (1898-1963) was an Irish scholar, author, and theologian. Oxford educated, Lewis came to be one of the Twentieth Century's great Christian apologists. His writings found a wide acceptance outside the Christian community, being given a place in Westminster Abby's Poets Corner. Lewis is perhaps most well known for creating the widely beloved, "Chronicles of Narnia" series.

At present we are on the outside of the world, the wrong side of the door. We discern the freshness and purity of the morning, but they do not make us fresh and pure. We cannot mingle with the splendours we see. But all the leaves of the New Testament are rustling with the rumour that it will not always be so. Some day, God willing, we shall get in.
